Why We Don’t Sell Doors Online – Visit Our Showroom Instead
While many suppliers are moving towards online-only sales, at T.H. Wiggans we’ve made a deliberate decision not to sell doors online—and we believe that benefits our customers in the long run. Choosing the right door is a tactile, visual decision, and we feel strongly that seeing and feeling the product in person offers a far better buying experience than scrolling through photos on a screen.
Our showroom in Kendal is the largest in the North West, showcasing over 40 internal and external doors, complete with real hardware, finishes, and glazing options. We also display over 900 door handles in various finishes, styles and price points. This lets you make confident decisions, comparing everything side-by-side—something an online image simply can’t provide.
There are also practical reasons why ordering doors online isn’t ideal:
- Doors aren’t like jumpers or trainers—if you order the wrong size, returning them is expensive, time-consuming, and often not possible due to re-stocking policies.
- Doors are large, heavy, and fragile. Online couriers don’t always handle them with care, leading to damaged corners, scratches, or warped panels during transit.
- Whether it’s fire rating, glazing, thickness, or finish, doors often have technical details that are easy to get wrong unless you're guided by someone with experience.
- When planning multiple rooms or coordinating with flooring, walls or ironmongery, seeing all the components in one place ensures a consistent finish.
- In-person consultations allow us to advise on lead times, delivery options, and whether you need standard or bespoke sizes—something most online stores can’t easily manage.
